I LOVE a fresh start. Cleaning things out and making way for something new. One of my favorite things is a pantry reset(I mentioned this briefly in this post Travel Prep ).
What is a pantry reset you ask? I'm so happy to tell you! When your pantry is bare, either because it is the end of a budget cycle, you are going on a trip, or because you are starting a new way of eating, take this opportunity to reset your pantry. Refill it with things that will help with your fresh start.
In my case, we were getting ready to take a week long road trip. I declined to buy any groceries and we used up what had been lingering in the back of the pantry. Here are a few photos of our dwindling supplies.
These photos were taken about 10 days before we left. I did restock baby food as we ran out but that was about all that I restocked. About 4 days before we left, this is what it looked like:
I love to take this opportunity to toss expired items or things that have been sitting in the pantry for months and months. I am not opposed to buying out of date items (I will get to that in a minute) but there are some items that don't keep well or they are obviously not liked by the family.
Now on to the best part: RESTOCKING!!!!
We went to Pennsylvania to visit family. There is this AMAZING store called BB's. It has grocery items that have damaged packages, are slightly out of date, or were overstocked by bigger stores. This store is amazingly cheap! Every time we go I section off van space for my treasures that I will bring back to my pantry.
There are things I will not buy there. Pasta that is not in a bag, I usually don't buy dairy just because it won't keep on the way home, but yogurt is already cultured so it would be fine. I like to focus on granola bars, pasta in bags, sauces, spices, Asian noodle meals, coffee, tea, etc. Things that are expensive here and will keep for a long time when we get home.
Here are some photos from after we got home. This is not all of it. The coffee and tea are not pictured and some of the noodles and pasta can not be seen.

Do you do a pantry reset? If you don't will you try one after reading this? I really do love a fresh start and what better time than the beginning of a new decade? I would love to see pictures of your own pantry reset in the comments!!
